The Institute conducts various programs in North America, and sometimes in Europe, in four main formats:

  • Summer Institute ‘08

    Session 2: July 26 – Aug 9
    Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA

  • 9 Day Program ‘09

  • Semester Program
    To be announced

  • Regional Weekend Programs
Introductory weekends that explore some of the essential aspects of the Mind & Its World curriculum.

Summer Institute—An annual event that started in 1996. It occurs in two modules consisting of two weeks each, four weeks total (students may attend one or both modules, new students must attend the first module). The Summer Institute presents our most complete curriculum:

    • Mind & Its World series—valid cognition and the Hinayana philosophical systems, Lorik (Classifications of Mind)
    • Clear Thinking series—clarifying the dharma of genuine meaning and relationships between phenomena, Dudra (Collected Topics) and Tarik (Classifications of Reasons)
    • Mahayana studies—Mind Only, Middle Way and Buddha Nature studies
    • Vajrayana studies—for qualified students, texts such as Profound Inner Reality
    • Advanced studies—texts such as Madhyamakavatara and Abhisamayalankara

In addition, other modules and programs include:

    • Teacher Training
    • Tibetan Translator Training
    • Insight, Compassion and Healing module for health professionals and those with interest in healing.

9-day Program—designed for those who aren't able to take two weeks out of their schedule, the format occurs over one week including the weekends and is equivalent to one two-week session at the summer program. It generally includes either or both of the Introductory and Level 2 curriculums.

Semester Program—a local program designed for those who cannot take the week or more required to attend a 9 Day or Summer program. It is equivalent to one two-week session at a residential Nitartha program and takes place in an evening and weekend format over two months.

Students may take the Introductory Level 1 at the Semester Program, 9 Day Program or the Summer Program and then continue on to further modules at the summer program or at a future 9 Day Program.

Regional Weekend Programs—introductory weekends designed to introduce the study and practice path of Nitartha in a weekend format. The Weekend Programs explore essential aspects of the foundational Mind & Its World curriculum.

All programs take place in venues that are conducive to Nitartha's style of intensive study.
